Javaya And Metropolis Coffee Co. To Donate More Than 130 Pounds Of Craft Coffee To Troops This Holiday Season from javaya's blog

UPDATE: We've been featured in ABC 7 Chicago's "Chicago Proud" segment for this effort!

Javaya is excited to announce that we've partnered with Metropolis Coffee Company this holiday season to donate over 130 pounds of craft coffee to troops on the front lines. We've also secured another 10 pounds of donated coffee from Ipsento Coffee of Chicago's Bucktown neighborhood. This announcement comes in conjunction with our official launch of Coffee For Courage, our new charitable mission to bring "a taste of home" to those defending America's freedom abroad.

Javaya is partnering with local coffee roasters, military combat veterans, local businesses, and the military to bring the absolute best small batch premium local coffees directly to troops on the front lines around the world.

A Taste Of Home Where It's Needed Most

Tens of thousands of miles from home, and surrounded by danger at every turn our troops are risking their lives in order to preserve ours. “Being deployed is part of the job for anyone in the military,” says Andrew, former US Army Special Forces, "and that means missing birthdays, anniversaries, births, deaths, and countless other opportunities to make memories with loved ones. Being deployed can make even the most seasoned service member homesick."

It’s the small reminders of home that – in those moments – keep Andrew and his team in elevated spirits. But those reminders are hard to come by, in some of the remotest regions of the world where constant resupply is too dangerous. In fact, the vast majority of the “comforts of home” never make it to these troops for logistical reasons.

Coffee is one of the simple pleasures that remind our brave soldiers stationed around the world of the comfort and relaxation of home.  It’s one of those little things that many Americans take for granted. But very rarely do our soldiers get the opportunity to escape the stresses of an incredibly challenging job with a great cup of coffee.

Says Andrew: "When I was deployed, my morning coffee was my time to remember home. It was a time to mentally escape the chaos of war and the stress of deployment."

This batch of donated coffee consists of coffee from three sources:

  1. Metropolis Coffee Company's donated retail bags from its café in Chicago
  2. Metropolis Coffee Company's bulk product from its roasterie (also in Chicago) and Ipsento Coffee's bulk product
  3. A Javaya Veterans Day promotion giving customers the opportunity to "buy one, give one" to troops on all coffees purchased on November 11, 2017

As a next step, coffee will be boxed and addressed & shipped to strategic locations within the US Armed Forces network where the coffee will reach troops directly on the front lines.
